Mount Shasta via Avalanche Gulch
3-Day Climb
Mt. Shasta is one of the most beautiful snow covered mountains in the country. From the freeway or the town the peak is breathtaking. The most southern and second highest Volcano (14,180 ft) in the cascades presents one of California’s most sought after mountaineering challenges. While on the mountain our team of professional mountain guides will provide you instruction on everything from tent set up and maintenance to using an ice axe and crampons. We are passionate about passing on our skillset in order to help you feel more confident and comfortable in the mountains. The 3 day avalanche gulch climb is perfect for seasoned climbers and first time mountaineers. It requires a large amount of fitness, however we will give you all the skills necessary to climb the peak on day 1 and 2. Join us for great food, good times, and an experience to last a lifetime.

Itinerary
Day 1: Meet at Mt. Shasta, CA for a gear check at 9 a.m. Drive to Bunny Flat and head to horse camp. This is about an hour long hike in but allows us to cover snow skills in the afternoon.
Day 2: Have a leisurely morning with good breakfast. Pack up our gear and head to camp 2 near Helen Lake
Day 3: Summit Day! Begin with a pre dawn alpine start. Ascending Avalanche Gulch through the red banks, past misery hill to the summit! After taking in the views from 14,180 above sea level, we will head back, pack up camp, and descend back to the trailhead.
Prerequisites
No previous mountaineering experience required
Previous hiking and camping experience required
Must be able to carry a 40 lb pack
Must be able to hike 5 miles per day
