Mera Peak Ski Expedition

Wanting to take your skiing to the Himalayas? Mera Peak (21,247 ft) is the perfect descent for the backcountry ski enthusiast. This is a great introduction to high altitude skiing. The trip begins in Kathmandu. We utilize a helicopter to get us to the village of Pangom. Pangom is a very special village. It is located 3 hours from any road and is very remote. Our good friend and partner Ang Sherpa grew up in this village. His grandfather built the monastery and his Mother and Father will be hosting us. From Pangom (9,348 ft) we trek to Khare (16,547 ft) over the next few days. The trek takes place in a less crowded valley than the Khumbu. It begins in the jungle and ends in the high alpine.

After reaching Khare we are set up for our Summit push. Imagine Skiing from the summit of a Himalayan mountain while staring out at the largest mountains in the world. The views are breathtaking. Visible are five 8,000 meter peaks including Mt. Everest. After getting back to Khare we will celebrate. Eventually we take a helicopter back to Kathmandu. A truly unique experience for the ski mountaineer. This trip should be on everyone’s bucket list.
